Not only would this be my first time using a right hand drive on the left side of the road, the renal location only had manual transmission for rent!
I have driven stick before, though not counting the fire engine #3, not much in a daily way since the mid 2010s ...
Navigating out of London was a trick, so many pedestrians just crossing willy-nilly? If it was Montreal they would have been hit many times over before ever getting to the other side of the road (where their presence caused me to slam on brakes and stall, at least twice)
Our destination at the end of the day was Glastonbury (where we needed to be there before 4:30pm), so it was to be a fast pass of Stonehenge, followed by lunch at Basing House.
Isle of Avalon was the target for the day |
an overview of the historic site |
many more 'living' streams need to be made up as this was the active stream in the area |
the interpretation center did not have staff on the day we visited so only area photos available |
more of the stream |
Pub interior of Barton's Mill they had an 8 room 'inn' nearby in a converted 300 year old barn space |
Cromwell was never far off in many places |
the entry walkway contained many broken or used mill stones |
up next: Glastonbury stay.
