A Song of Ice & Fire - Commission 7

did some research on the Kligane heraldry

Lannister forces building color

Starks, with grey wind in the van

cavalry shaping up quickly

long view of both forces

Been re-watching the 'Game of Thrones' in the background while painting and stopping to get good color ideas about the livery and dresses worn in the series.

A Song of Ice and Fire - commission

I have a new commission on my painting table.

the box art

A fellow tabletop gamer, who has less time to paint than I, has commissioned me to paint this fantastic game set, based on the popular Song of Ice and Fire series, also known as Game of Thrones.

the whole grouping

the minis are molded in colored plastic

they are 'bendy' which will keep things
like the pikes and sword from breaking too often

details are well represented on the models

there were limited error or seams that needed
any green stuff for correction

The cleaning has been done, now mounting to the painting sticks.

Pirates in the Dungeon

 Days of Plunder ...

In July, I did a solo day of pirates, testing out the new crew and ships and coming to a better understanding of using ships in the Blood & Plunder system.

the two sloops got to engage each other for the first time

close range battle ensued

the black and red 'pirate' vessel came up the worst

some great photos of the sloops

on fire the 'pirates' were doomed

Then the game was able to be staged in the War Dungeon, in the Nanaimo area.

we started off with a little beach assault scenario
so the players could learn the rules

there were some 'home-spun' ships

the one crew abandoned their crippled ship

while a pair of brigantines did a duel ... the homespun
one coming up very badly mauled

not able to win, the sloop selected open water and evaded

I did the cannon firing wrong, it was upon returning home and re-reading the cannon rules that I realized at least 6 more chances to get hits were missed in the first volley ...

Ah well ... everyone had a good time.

An extensive audit of the whole Napoleonic collection has been in progress over the past weeks.

Today the count is in, 2,200 combat forces and a total of 2,319 miniatures including tabletop markers and draft teams.

the French army all 704 of them!

The French top the list at 704, Sweden the bottom at 82.  See the full details on the new Napoleonic Collection page. (click it)

Now I must continue the photography of the detail for the units in the collection.
